Mind Mapping

Mind maps are useful for summarising a topic.Mind_map Students can quickly identify and understand the subject and it’s different strands. The advantage of doing this online rather than traditional paper based mind maps are that they can be edited, shared and accessed on the move.

The best two available are Bubblus or Mind 42 . Mind 42 is particularly useful as students can collaborate on mind maps together online.

Both these sites are free (they do require a sign-up) but can be saved online and retrieved. These can be accessed from a phone or tablet at any time (great for the nervous 5 minutes before exams).

Another excellent alternative is Text to Mindmap which automatically converts pieces of text into a mind map. This is a useful revision tool for long pieces of text such as essay style exam answers. Mind maps are an excellent means of planning out the main points of such answers.
